Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to slam Tottenham during their embarrassing 6-1 defeat at the “brilliant” Newcastle United on Sunday.
As you are surely aware, Spurs were battered by their top-four rivals and were five goals down after 21 minutes of play.
Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy both scored twice, while Joelinton and substitute Callum Wilson grabbed a goal each.
Newcastle were obviously brilliant and deserved to win, but the result is all about Spurs and how sh*t they were.
Pressure is growing on Cristian Stellini – who is now second favourite behind Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper to be the next Premier League manager to leave.
Losing 6-1 at Newcastle before two crucial matches against Manchester United and Liverpool is less than ideal, but that is the reality of the situation for Stellini and his players.
The concerning defeat on Sunday was obviously met with plenty of reaction on social media.
From Spurs fans not knowing whether to laugh, cry, or punch a wall to rival fans pissing themselves laughing, former England defender Carragher labelled the Londoners a “disgrace” and questioned Stellini’s decision to start Pedro Porro and Ivan Perisic as the full-backs in a back four.
“Newcastle are brilliant; they have been all season,” Carragher tweeted. “Tottenham are a disgrace! How have they gone to a back four for the first time this season, with Porro a full-back that can’t defend and Perisic who is a winger?”
Carragher then questioned Daniel Levy’s decision to make Stellini manager after the sacking of Antonio Conte and believes it is already time to replace him.
“Get a proper manager in right now, not Conte’s mate,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer says he thinks Conte was correct in what he said during his scathing assessment of Spurs which ultimately led to him being sacked.
“There was a lot made about Conte when he came out with his outburst about the Spurs players, but this is why he gave the outburst,” Dyer told Sky Sports.
“Everything that he said in that press conference has come true. The Spurs players cost the manager his job, they’re that bad.
“We said the full-backs would be a problem, the centre-halves have been poor, the midfielders have been poor and they’ve been put to the sword.”
Dyer added: “It’s just a shame that Spurs have been so poor. They’ve let the fans down, they’ve let everyone associated with the club down.”
