CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Battery’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup contest against Charlotte Independence of the USL League One has been confirmed for Tues., April 25, at Patriots Point, kicking off at 7 p.m. ET.
Southern Derby rivals Charleston and Charlotte meet in the Third Round of the Open Cup after winning their respective Second Round contests earlier in the month.
Tickets for the game are on sale now for $15 across all seat levels via SeatGeek.com, the club’s exclusive digital ticketing provider.
Fans should note that only the West Grandstand and North Supporters Section will be open for the game, whereas the East Grandstand and South Supporters Section will be closed.
The match will be the first meeting between the Battery and the Independence since 2021 after Charlotte moved to USL League One in 2022. The last time Charleston and Charlotte met at Patriots Point, the Battery bested the North Carolina club 2-0 thanks to goals from Nicque Daley and Joel Bunting.
To get to the Third Round, Charleston defeated Savannah Clovers FC, 4-1, and Charlotte defeated Appalachian FC, 2-0. Tuesday will also see the return of former Battery players Dane Kelly and Avionne Flanagan with Charlotte.
