Soto Signs with KC Current

EUGENE, Ore. – Center back Croix Soto has been signed and called up to the active roster by the Kansas City Current of the NWSL.

Soto, who finished her Oregon career last fall, signed a one-year contract through the 2023 season. Her first action with the Current could come as soon as Saturday at Chicago.

“Croix came in last week on a trial basis and did a great job fitting right in,” said general manager Camille Ashton. “We’re very excited for Croix to earn her first professional contract with the Current.”

Soto joins former Duck Chardonnay Curran on KC’s roster. Curran was a 2022 second round draft pick by the Current.

Soto played 62 matches with 57 starts primarily at center back during her four-year career at Oregon.

She played every minute (1,563) of the 2020 season at center back when the Ducks set the program record for lowest goals against average (0.69).

Soto would become the fourth Duck to play in the NWSL, joining Curran (2022-23, Kansas City), Marissa Everett (2019-22, Portland) and Mo Fitzgerald (2016, Portland).
