Is Marcus Rashford available vs Sevilla? Latest Man Utd injury & suspension news

Manchester United’s Europa League journey continues on Thursday night as they play host to Sevilla in their quarter-final first leg.

The Red Devils have already claimed a piece of silverware in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at the helm after they beat Newcastle 2-0 in February’s Carabao Cup final. It’s been a pretty rocky road since that victory at Wembley, but back-to-back Premier League wins have brought about some stability.

Ten Hag’s side are among the favourites to go all the way in the Europa League and they’re set to face their third Spanish opposition on the spin in the quarter-finals after they beat Barcelona and Real Betis in the previous knockout rounds.

It’s been a difficult domestic season for Sevilla, but their pedigree in this competition means they simply cannot be written off in this tie. Here’s the latest Man Utd team news for the first leg at Old Trafford, including an update on the fitness of Marcus Rashford.

Casemiro has missed United’s last four Premier League games due to suspension, but he’ll return to Erik ten Hag’s starting XI for Thursday’s game. The Brazilian, however, will miss the second leg in Seville should he pick up a booking at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes is also at risk at missing the second leg as he’s accumulated two yellow cards in this competition so far.

The booking slate will be wiped clean ahead of the semi-finals.

Christian Eriksen returned from a lengthy injury layoff at the weekend and will be available for selection Thursday. The Dane, though, is unlikely to start, especially with Casemiro back in action.

Luke Shaw suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Brentford and is likely to return later this month. The England international has joined Donny van de Beek, Tom Heaton, and Alejandro Garnacho on the sidelines.

The fitness of star forward Rashford is Ten Hag’s most pressing concern. The 25-year-old limped off in the second half of United’s 2-0 triumph over Everton on Saturday and is nursing a groin issue.

“Now we have to wait for Rashford. We have [to see] what it is and how bad it is,” the United boss said after Saturday’s win. “We wait for 24, 36 hours, and then we know more.”

Rashford will not play on Thursday, but the full extent of his injury is yet to be revealed.
