‘I found my place here’

Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer insists “there’s nothing better” than the Premier League and reckons he’s found a home at Man Utd.

The Red Devils signed the Austria international towards the end of the January transfer window after Christian Eriksen picked up a serious injury,

Sabitzer has impressed for Man Utd as his role as grown in recent weeks with the 29-year-old grabbing a goal and an assist in his last four matches.

There have been rumours that he could stay beyond the summer if Bayern Munich are willing to do a deal with Football Insider recently claiming that Sabitzer is ‘pushing to sign’ for Man Utd.

And now Sabitzer has dropped a huge hint to German newspaper Bild that he plans on staying at Old Trafford with the Austrian saying he’s “found my place”.

Sabitzer told Bild (via Fabrizio Romano): “Of course my thoughts are on Man United, especially with the trust I get from Erik ten Hag – it’s very positive.

“I found my place here. Now I know the Premier League and can say there’s nothing better.”

But not everyone is certain that Man Utd will want to sign Sabitzer in the summer transfer window if they can find better reinforcements.

The Red Devils are already on the lookout for a new midfielder anyway with links to numerous different players around the world.

And journalist Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport: “We have to remember he was an emergency signing. So while it is possible he’ll join permanently, first and foremost Ten Hag’s going to have an eye on signing someone significant for that midfield, you know, a long-term regular of a very high level.

“I think that it’s only after those conversations that they’ll go back to Sabitzer. I don’t feel like there’ll be much rush to do it, because I don’t think the demand would be that great for him.”

Sabitzer has played in a more advanced role for Man Utd in recent weeks with Bruno Fernandes dropping deeper and Arsenal legend Ian Wright was impressed by the Austrian in their recent 1-0 victory over Brentford.

“You have to say, Sabitzer came up with the goods today,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“With the assist and in certain other areas, he was getting into pockets, making some nice little moves and always making himself available.

“He got taken off in the end but I thought he did more than enough tonight in that number 10 position.”
