Wave Socked in San Diego Thursday Night

Wave Struck by Comets Saturday Night in Kansas City.

March 31, 2023 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)Milwaukee Wave News Release

The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave started strong Thursday night against San Diego at Pechanga Arena but ultimately fell short after full time.

Final Score: Milwaukee Wave 5, San Diego Sockers 11.

“We got off to a really good start but just couldn’t maintain it; It’s very frustrating,” exclaimed Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “We missed some opportunities and took some silly penalties throughout the game; all things that we need to stay on point on, especially when you play a team like San Diego.”

Wave goals were scored by Tony Walls, Salvador Nunez x2, Ian Bennett and Alex Bradley.

Despite Thursday’s loss to San Diego, Milwaukee can still clinch the MASL East Division with a Utica City FC win over Baltimore Saturday night or a Wave win Sunday afternoon in Harrisburg.

“Harrisburg is as very difficult place to play,” added Oliviero. “They’re a blue collar team that works extremely hard and I know they would love to play the role of spoiler. Our plan is, despite what happens in Utica Saturday, is to ‘Play To Win’ against Harrisburg. We need to get it done if we hand home field advantage in the playoffs.”

Sunday, April 2, 4:05pm CT – Milwaukee Wave at Harrisburg Heat from Equine Arena at The Farm Show Complex.
