PSG predicted lineup vs Lyon

Paris Saint-Germain’s defence of their Ligue 1 title continues against Lyon on Sunday evening.

Christophe Galtier is under mounting pressure in the Parc des Princes hot-seat, and his job will almost certainly become untenable if their position as champions of France comes under threat.

A win against Lyon would help ease such concerns, though PSG have several key injury issues to contend with.

Here’s how they could line up.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma – The undisputed number one following Keylor Navas’ loan to Nottingham Forest.

CB: Juan Bernat – Yeah, it’s time to get funky. Galtier had to start left-back Bernat at right centre-back against Rennes a fortnight ago, and key injuries mean the Spaniard may have to be deployed there again.

CB: Danilo Pereira – Though naturally a midfielder, Danilo has often filled in at centre-back for PSG since his 2020 move from Porto.

CB: El Chadaille Bitshiabu – Still only 17 and clearly very raw, but needs must.

RM: Timothee Pembele – Hooked at the break last time out but Galtier might not have any other option but to reinstate the 20-year-old.

CM: Warren Zaire-Emery – Fabian Ruiz probably doesn’t deserve to start, leaving 17-year-old Zaire-Emery as the obvious replacement.

CM: Marco Verratti – A regular on the treatment table, Verratti is ironically not a member of PSG’s current injured contingent.

CM: Vitinha – A starter by default right now, but the Portugal midfielder needs to do more if he’s to keep his place in the side long-term.

LM: Nuno Mendes – Well, at least PSG know what they’re getting from the athletic wing-back.

CF: Lionel Messi – Barcelona confirmed on Friday that they are looking into the re-signing of Messi, though Galtier has sought to cool such talk.

CF: Kylian Mbappe – Tied atop Ligue 1’s scoring charts with Lille’s Jonathan David, but you’d back Mbappe to be out of sight come May.
