Louisiana Tech

RALEIGH – The Wolfpack softball team defeated N.C. A&T, 8-2, Wednesday evening in Dail Stadium. The Pack hit three home runs in the bottom of the sixth to help secure the win.

The Pack wasted no time Wednesday as they got the first three Aggie batters out. To open the bottom of the first, graduate Rebecca Murray reached first on an error by A&T. Freshman MaKayla Marbury and Amanda Hasler both doubled to left field, with Hasler’s hit bringing in two to give NC State the early lead.

Despite A&T getting one on base in the top of the second, they were called for runner interference forcing out number three.

In the bottom of the second with one out, Murray took her second chance in the box. After seeing one pitch, the outfielder slammed a ball over the center field wall to give the Pack a 3-0 run. The next two batters were caught out to end the inning.

Both teams went scoreless through the fourth but A&T scored their first run in the top of the fifth after a first pitch homer from Makayla Layton. The Wolfpack responded by getting the next three batters out.

The bottom of the sixth secured the win for the Wolfpack after they recorded three homers. Hannah Goodwin led the team off with a first pitch bomb over the left field wall and with one out, Taylor Ensley slammed a ball past center field wall to record her sixth homer of the season. Junior Haley Haislip then doubled to right center field to get one base. After the Aggies got the second out, Murray singled to shortstop and Nadia Sykes, who pinch ran for Haislip, scored to make it 6-1. Freshman
