GEODIS Preview: Nashville SC Returns Home to Face CF Montréal on Saturday Night

For the first time this season, Nashville SC will take the pitch on a Saturday night under the GEODIS Park lights.

The Boys in Gold face CF Montréal coming off an undefeated start to the season, including a 2-0 opening night victory at home vs. NYCFC.


Saturday’s match is Nashville SC’s Women’s History Night. We’ll be honoring community groups Play Like A Girl and Thistle Farms at the match, as well as featuring an all-female lineup of musical acts at the match. Tickets for Saturday night’s match are still available here.

Left Flank Runners – Since he arrived last year on loan, winger Jacob Shaffelburg has built a rapport with left back Dan Lovitz.

With Shaffelburg signed permanently, Lovitz said he’s enjoying working with the Canadian international on the left side of the pitch.

“Jacob is a guy we identified as fitting our system well,” Lovitz said. “He’s fit in seamlessly at the end of last year, but it’s nice to start a full campaign with him through preseason and to get him used to how we operate and finer tune some of the details of his game, and mine to put him in positions where he’s incredibly hard to defend. I think there’s a lot of exciting opportunities for myself and for him to create offensive momentum down our side of the field, and hopefully we’re looking forward to doing that a little bit more consistently.”

Home Style – The Boys in Gold started the first half of their season opener vs. NYCFC strong, scoring late in the first half to go up 1-0 thanks to a Walker Zimmerman strike off a set piece. By comparison, it took until the fourth home match of 2022 to find a goal in the first half (Alex Muyl vs. CF Montréal, May 18, 2022).

Head Coach Gary Smith says he wants his team to dictate the tempo on home soil.

“We performed very well in the opening game, and we want to impress our style,” Smith said. “We are at home. We’d love to get off to the sort of start that we did against NYCFC. That mindset and application is very much a priority in how we’ve planned and prepared.”
