Pluck Signs with Angel City FC of NWSL

DURHAM – Former Duke women’s soccer standout Mackenzie Pluck has signed a one-year contract with Angel City Football Club (ACFC) as announced by the club on Wednesday.

“Playing professionally has been a dream of mine for a long time,” said Pluck. “I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity with Angel City, and I’m honored to play for a club with such ambition and excellence both on and off the field. I’m excited to compete at the highest level and cannot wait for the journey ahead.”

A product of North Wales, Pa., Pluck recently completed her fifth year with the Blue Devils.  She played in a school-record 107 matches with 78 starts for Duke.  Over her career, she scored 21 goals and added 29 assists for 71 points on the pitch.  Her 29 assists rank tied for fourth on the Blue Devil career charts.  Pluck guided the Blue Devils to three straight NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal appearances and notched six game-winning goals.

“We’re excited to add Mackenzie into the club’s depth of players,” said ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “Our coaching staff identified her on-field strengths during this preseason. She’s also been able to integrate very well into the team and environment quickly. We’re looking forward to seeing Mackenzie grow and develop in our system.”

A 2021 Duke graduate, Pluck is finishing a one-year program in the Master of Management Studies (MMS) at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.  She received a degree in psychology along with a minor in visual arts and a markets and management certificate prior to enrolling at Fuqua.

Pluck will reunite with former teammate Lily Nabet, who enters her second season with Angel City.
