Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has turned down two contract offers from the Bees amid interest from some of the Premier League‘s biggest clubs.

Raya has been in excellent form this season, keeping eight clean sheets and making 100 saves, the most of any keeper in the league.

He has entered the final 18 months of his contract, and the 27-year-old has now hinted he is eyeing a future away from the Community Stadium.

Raya told the Athletic: ‘I turned down two contracts, one last year and one this January. They weren’t the offers we were looking for. I can only say that.’

It comes after interest in the Spaniard from the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United.

Both clubs have storied yet ageing keepers in David de Gea and Hugo Lloris respectively, and see Raya as a promising replacement.

He continued: ‘I want to focus on playing games and not think too much about my future,’ Raya continued. ‘I have a contract here, so I’m willing to finish that, but you never know what’s going to happen in the summer. 

‘Maybe the club wants to sell, maybe not. Maybe I want to stay. I want to focus on football and see what happens. The club will decide the price and if a club wants to pay money, that will be it. I’m not worried about that. I’m not in charge of that.’

Raya, who has appeared for Spain twice but was not used during last year’s World Cup, also spoke of his ambition to win trophies. 

‘I want to play in Europe and I want to fight to win a title,’ he added. ‘I want to fight to win a European title. I trust myself to be able to play in those types of games.’
