Rashford: 'I've Set Many Targets Per Month, Per Week'

Marcus Rashford wouldn’t be drawn on his goal targets after netting another brace taking his tally to 16 goals in his past 17 games since the 2022 World Cup.

Rashford has hit career-best form for Manchester United as they have thrust themselves into the Premier League title race.

The England forward netted two goals in Sunday’s 3-0 home win over Leicester City, moving United within five points leaders of Arsenal and three of second-placed Manchester City.

“I think you just keep going game by game. I’ve set many targets per month, per week, but it’s important for me to just stay focused and on the things that matter and thats the team winning games,” Rashford said.

“You’re not going to score every game, but you can be a big help to the team every game if you concentrate and work hard.”

Rashford, however, is scoring basically every game, netting in all of his previous five games, and 14 of his past 17.

“Confidence is part of football really and you have to find it within yourself and it can also be given through your team-mates, your manager, your family… just your support system really,” he said.

“I’m feeling good at the minute. I’m happy and pleased that were involved in big games.

“The next game for us is a massive game, followed by an even bigger one so hopefully we can finish what’s been a good start to the week.”

United boss Erik ten Hag was eager to point out the side’s good form after the game, not just Rashford’s.

“Yeah, he’s getting in the right positions, but don’t forget the team,” he said. “Because they are team goals.

“So I want to highlight Bruno, again with two great assists, one for Rashy, one for Jadon Sancho. He has to receive the balls, otherwise he cant score. Also the one from Fred was beautiful as well.

“There are so many players who can pass the ball in the right moment when he is in a position.”
