February 15, 2023 – United Soccer League Championship (USL) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has signed defender Pat Hogan to a one-year deal with a club option for 2024, the team announced today. The contract is pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Hogan, 25, remains in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference after spending his first two pro seasons with the Charleston Battery. He appeared in 37 matches along the Battery’s back line, scoring two goals from his center back position.
“Pat has had a good preseason and is a good communicator in the back,” Riverhounds head coach Bob Lilley said. “He is a good passer and strong in the challenge, and we are excited to have him in Pittsburgh for the 2023 USL Championship season.”
Prior to turning pro, Hogan was a four-year collegiate starter at UNC-Charlotte in his hometown of Charlotte, N.C.
The 6-foot-4 defender appeared in 64 games and scored nine goals for the 49ers, who posted 30 shutouts during his four seasons. He was a two-time All-Conference USA First Team selection, and as a senior in 2020-21, Hogan was the Conference USA Defensive MVP. While in college, he also played the 2019 season with Discoveries SC in USL League Two.
Hogan has appeared in both of the Hounds’ preseason matches thus far, and he and the team will continue to prepare for the upcoming USL Championship season with their third preseason match, a home contest against the University of Akron this Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m.
