Chelsea are reportedly ‘prepared to move heaven and earth’ to sign Liverpool target Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund later this year.
Bellingham’s decision to join Dortmund has worked a treat as the Bundesliga side have afforded him the platform to shine. He already has a lot of experience despite him still being a teenager.
The midfielder has captained Dortmund on several occasions this season and he is already proving that he is capable of eventually becoming one of the best players in the world.
It is only a matter of time before he leaves Dortmund and it looks likely that he will move on this summer.
Real Madrid and Man City are being linked with him but recent reports have indicated that he would prefer a move to Liverpool.
Despite this, The Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea are now ‘ready to make their move’ to sign Bellingham.
The Blues are aware that they are ‘not among the favourites’ but this is not stopping them from ‘doing everything in their power to make themselves part of the conversation’.
The report adds: ‘Co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have worked hard to establish contacts and relationships with representatives of Bellingham since taking charge at Chelsea and quickly identified the England international as a top target.
‘Boehly and Eghbali were at England’s first World Cup game against Iran in Qatar to see Bellingham score and produce a brilliant performance, and it is believed they would be prepared to move heaven and earth to try to sign him.’
Chelsea would reportedly prefer Bellingham over West Ham’s Declan Rice and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and they are ‘planning a clear-out to boost their Financial Fair Play position’.
Speaking this week, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl admitted that it would be “wishful thinking” from them to hope to keep Bellingham “as long as possible”.
“There has been no new development,” said Kehl. “We’ll have to be patient for a little longer.
“But of course, we try to keep Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund as long as possible because he is an incredibly important player who has shown once again this season how he identifies with this club and makes the team better.”
Kehl added: “Things develop due to market mechanisms. So of course I have my thoughts and also have my wishful thinking. I can’t say whether that will happen in the end.
