Arteta ‘delighted’ with Arsenal efforts as he felt they ‘matched the best team in the world’

Arteta keen on Rice

Arteta was delighted with the efforts of his players despite their 3-1 loss to Manchester City, which saw the visitors leapfrog Arsenal into first place.

He said: “You take away that you gave Manchester City three goals, but for the rest and I don’t know what else I can demand of the players to match that level.

“They are the best team in the world and we matched that level. But after, it’s just necessary to do certain things better to beat them.

“I have more belief because I see a team that has gone head-to-head with them.

“At the end, disappointment because we lost it – and I say ‘we’ because we lost it.

“It was an incredible battle between two teams and we just gave them the goals, absolutely gave them the goals and against this team, they’re going to destroy you.

“On the other hand, we had three big, big chances and we didn’t put them away. That was the difference.”
