Premier League goals of the week: Gameweek 23

One more week of Premier League action is in the books and, as always, it produced a whole lot of fun.

Antonio Conte’s return to Tottenham was spoiled by a 4-1 thumping from Leicester, while Nathan Jones was given his marching orders by Southampton after their capitulation against ten-man Wolves.

And yet somehow, VAR still managed to steal the show.

In an attempt to distract ourselves from the decision-making carnage, here’s a look at the best goals from gameweek 23.

Two of Chelsea‘s most high-profile winter additions combined for this lovely goal against West Ham.

Enzo Fernandez’s vision and creativity were both being flexed here as the £106m-man found Joao Felix’s run, and the Atletico Madrid loanee could make no mistake.

If you’re going to get Nathan Jones sacked, get him sacked with style like Joao Gomes did here.

Wolves‘ January addition hammered the final nail in Southampton‘s coffin with his guided finish into the top corner right at the death of the game to send Jones packing.

Every goal Nampalys Mendy has been an absolute scorcher. That’s a fact.

The Leicester man has made 329 appearances in senior football and now has a grand total of two goals to his name.

This goal against Tottenham came eight years after a proper corker against Bastia during his days with Nice. Well worth a watch.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s annual month-long Ballon d’Or push is back for 2023.

This goal is perfect because of its simplicity. He beats his man, turns the defender inside out, stops the ball to assess his options and then bends it into the bottom corner. They don’t come much better.

Harvey Barnes probably deserves a shout for his goal as well, but don’t you think Spurs fans have suffered enough?
