A former Man Utd player was “disappointed” by what he saw from Marcus Rashford against Leeds and it is “totally wrong” that he is labelled the “hero”.
It is pretty baffling to hear that fresh criticism is being directed at Rashford as he is in the form of his life at the moment.
The forward struggled last term after he returned to fitness following his shoulder surgery. He looked shot of confidence and it even looked likely that he would leave to join PSG last summer.
Rashford ended up opting to remain at Man Utd and Erik ten Hag has been able to get the best out of the forward this season. He has truly been one of the best players in the Premier League this term as he has grabbed 11 goals and three assists in 22 league outings.
The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in his last eight league games. He got on the scoresheet earlier this week in the 2-2 draw against Leeds United with a header following a cross from Diogo Dalot.
The Red Devils face Leeds in the reverse fixture at Elland Road on Sunday. Ex-United player Paul Parker wants to see a lot more from Rashford this weekend.
The pundit feels that Rashford “would not stand a chance” against Leeds United right-back Luke Ayling after the England attacker has a “really tough time” at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
“He’s in great goalscoring form, that’s without a doubt. His decision-making in games needs to get better because it wasn’t good,” Parker told Apostagolos.
“The goals are what everyone looks at but if you look at his all-around game, then he’s got a lot to work on.”
He added: “Rashford was really having a tough time against Leeds. I’m so disappointed by what I’m seeing from him. And now people are talking about him because he scored a goal. He would have been the villain but now he ends up being the hero which is totally wrong.
“But I think it was very good that he didn’t play on the left side because he would have been even worse if he was going to face Luke Ayling who is very underrated.
“Marcus Rashford wouldn’t stand a chance against him, so I don’t know what Erik ten Hag is going to do at Elland Road.
“That goal was luck. Diogo Dalot closed his eyes and wrote ‘luck’ on the ball before he crossed it.
“Luckily Rashford was there to head it in but that was the only good thing he did at that game.”
Parker often comes out with some pretty outlandish statements, but this is on a whole other scale.
