Al Hilal vs Real Madrid

Al Hilal vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid will take on Al Hilal of Saudi Araba in the FIFA Club World Cup final this weekend.

Los Blancos overcame Egyptian club Al Ahly in their semi-final and are representing Europe as 2021/22 UEFA Champions League winners.

Al Hilal were nominated as AFC Champions League representatives and have already played two games in the tournament, knocking out Wydad Casablanca on penalties and then impressively claiming Brazilian scalp Flamengo in the last four.

Al Hilal team news

Al Hilal have Mohamed Kanno back from suspension, with the forward having impressed for Saudi Arabia at the World Cup at the end of last year.

Real will have to be wary of another World Cup hero in Salem Al-Dawsari, who scored the famous winner against eventual champons Argentina in Qatar.

Al Hilal starting 11 (4-3-3): Al Muaiouf; Abdulhamid, Jang, Al Boleahi, Aldawsari; Carrillo, Cuellar, Al-Dawsari; Kanno, Ighalo, Vietto.

Real Madrid team news

Dani Carvajal and Marco Asensio are in line to return to the Real Madrid squad after illness and injury respectively. Karim Benzema is also progressing after initially staying in Spain for the semi-final, but Eder Militao remains a doubt despite also arriving in Morocco.

Andriy Lunin will continue in goal, with Thiabut Courtois not making the trip.

Real Madrid starting 11 (4-3-3): Lunin; Carvajal, Rudiger, Alaba, Nacho; Kroos, Ceballos, Modric; Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius.

Al Hilal are only the sixth club not from Europe or South America to reach the final in 19 editions of the FIFA Club World Cup, having already sprung a surprise against Flamengo in the semi-finals.

That alone means they shouldn’t be underestimated by Real, despite the obvious gulf in class between the two teams on paper.

However, if Los Blancos perform as they should, they will be crowned world champions for the eighth time.

Prediction: Al Hilal 0-2 Real Madrid
