Ten Hag is ‘unsure’ over ‘gamble’ worth ‘at least £267m’ as Man Utd plan huge transfer budget

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag looks at a stand

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has his doubts over making a move for Victor Osimhen as the Dutchman selects his summer targets, according to reports.

The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new striker in the summer transfer market after Cristiano Ronaldo was released from the club in November by mutual agreement.

Marcus Rashford has stepped up to the plate with 11 goals and four assists in 13 appearances since the World Cup break, while Man Utd also brought in Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley until the end of the season.

It is unlikely Weghorst will stay beyond the end of the current campaign with Man Utd seeing him as a stop-gap before spending big on a striker in the summer.

Napoli’s demands are ‘likely to exceed £100m’ for Osimhen, while Italian journalist Paolo de Paola has told Radio Punto Novo that the Nigeria international is worth “at least €300m (£267m)”.

De Paola said: “Osimhen is worth at least €300m! I don’t see any huge differences between him and Mbappé, on the contrary Osimhen places himself more at the disposal of the team and his teammates.”

And the Daily Mail claims that Qatari investors looking to buy Man Utd want to give Ten Hag a ‘huge transfer kitty’ in time for the summer transfer window.

The investors ‘will make an offer for United in the coming days’ with the Glazers ‘seeking £6bn’ to sell the Red Devils, who they put up for sale last year.

A source told the Daily Mail: “There are significant funds available. These people are serious. They want to make sure that United are where they should be and they are confident theirs will be the strongest bid.

“They want to strengthen…
