Jesse Marsch Sacked: Leeds United Lose Patience

Leeds United have axed American manager Jesse Marsch less than 12 months after his appointment following their seven-game winless run in the Premier League.

The Whites were downed 1-0 by battling Nottingham Forest on Sunday in a significant result in the Premier League’s relegation battle.

That defeat left Leeds in 17th with 18 points from 20 games, having narrowly avoided the drop last season after Marsch took over from Marcelo Bielsa.

“Leeds United can confirm head coach Jesse Marsch has been relieved of his duties,” the club said in a statement.

“Jesse joined the club in February 2022 and was instrumental in keeping the club in the Premier League on the final day of last season.

“The process of appointing a new head coach is underway and we will continue to keep supporters up to date throughout the coming days.”

Former Real Madrid forward Raul has been linked with the job, along with current West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou’s name has been linked with the post too.

Marsch ended his time at Elland Road with 11 wins, 10 draws and 16 defeats in 37 games.

Leeds have two upcoming Premier League games against their main rivals Manchester United.
