Twitter and Ryan Reynolds reacts to Wrexham's dramatic FA Cup draw

Even without the Hollywood spotlight beaming down on Wrexham’s FA Cup fourth-round tie with Sheffield United, a National League side duking out a six-goal thriller with a high-flying Championship outfit would be headline-grabbing.

However, the presence of a movie star owner losing his mind as he watches on from the stands of the world’s oldest international stadium naturally cranks up the interest.

The football on the pitch was enthralling enough, as the fifth-tier leaders overturned an early deficit before getting pegged back twice to draw 3-3 on Sunday afternoon, but the cameras were naturally drawn to the crowd.

However, not ever fan shot featured Ryan Reynolds.

The fairytale threatened to unravel before you could say ‘Once upon a time at the Racecourse’, as Oli McBurnie gave Sheffield United the lead inside two minutes.

Yet, Wrexham struck back through James Jones within five minutes of the restart. Much to the delight – and disbelief – of Reynolds watching on from the stands.

Reynolds only makes up half of the Hollywood double act that took over Wrexham in February 2021. Rob McElhenney couldn’t attend but Reynolds gave his pal a blow-by-blow from the crowd.

It turns out that McElhenney wasn’t the only stateside spectator watching the FA Cup tie.

Thomas O’Connor put the hosts ahead against the side sitting third in the Championship.
