Man Utd starlet Alejandro Garnacho has been told that he should “fire his agent” amid reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
The Red Devils paid around £420,000 to sign Garnacho from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in 2021 and he has been one of their breakout stars this term under Erik ten Hag.
The 18-year-old has put in a couple of star-making performances as the winger has quickly become a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
Garnacho started on the bench over the weekend as United fell to defeat against Arsenal. Rio Ferdinand has since insisted that he should have been brought on earlier.
“I will say, if I was being picky with United, I thought maybe they should have brought on someone like Garnacho with 15 or 20 minutes to go just to give Arsenal something to think about.
“They were so on us. They were all over us because they knew there was nothing threatening in behind late on.”
He added: “Garnacho I thought would have been a great substitute. With hindsight, it’s easy to say all this, but they were the better team.”
Garnacho is already an important player for United but his future is in doubt as his contract is due to expire in 2024.
United are said to be ‘optimistic’ that Garnacho will commit his future to the club but he is being linked with Real Madrid.
Now ex-Man Utd player Paul Parker has explained why he cannot understand why Garnacho woudl move to Juventus or Madrid.
“I don’t get why he would want to move away from the biggest club in the world. And why Juventus or Real Madrid?” Parker told wettbasis.
“Juventus is in a really bad place at this moment in time, so he would arrive there to sit on the bench for a poor side.
“And Real Madrid, of course, they are a big club but he would play even less than what he is doing at Man Utd.”
Parker added that Garnacho should “fire” his agent as he is “not trying to help”.
“So these rumours make absolutely no sense and I don’t believe that it’s true. I believe that the agent is trying to push Man Utd to give Garnacho a big contract, so that the agent can fill his pockets with a lot of money.
“That’s how agents work nowadays and Garnacho should consider firing him because he is not trying to help Garnacho.
“Actually, I don’t understand why the players want to have agents. The only thing they are doing is to create drama and take a part of the footballers’ hard-earned money.”
