Newcastle vs Fulham – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

Newcastle are trying to secure a place in the Champions League this season

Two of the Premier League’s unexpected high-flyers will be doing battle this weekend as Fulham travel north to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United.

Incredibly, both of these teams are in European spots coming into the game with Newcastle sat in third place on 35 points and Fulham in sixth with 31. The West London side have won their last four Premier League matches to reach such dizzying heights.

Newcastle will be looking for a repeat of when the two sides met at Craven Cottage earlier in the campaign. The October meeting ended 4-1 to the Magpies after Nathaniel Chalobah had been sent off after just eight minutes. Two goals from Miguel Almiron as well as strikes from Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson meant Newcastle could continue to build their momentum.

Fulham are a better side now than they were back in October, but you could also say that Newcastle are as well. They are two of the league’s most confident sides and it could be a thriller.

Newcastle team news

It is believed that Allan Saint-Maximin will be on the bench for Newcastle again. Eddie Howe has the choice of Callum Wilson, the returning Alexander Isak and Chris Wood to choose from in the attack.

The players out through injury will be Jonjo Shelvey, Emil Krafth and Matt Targett.

Newcastle starting 11 (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; S Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes, Willock; Almiron, Wilson, Joelinton

Fulham team news

Fulham will be welcoming Aleksandar Mitrovic back to the side against his former club and he is expected to come straight back into the starting eleven after his suspension. They will be without Antonee Robinson after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.

Fulham starting 11 (4-5-1): Leno; Tete, Adarabioyo, Ream, Kurzawa; Palhinha, Reed, Decordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira, Willian; Mitrovic

Fulham’s recent record against Newcastle is extremely poor but both of these sides are a very different proposition compared to when they met earlier in the season.

The Magpies certainly have the most dangerous squad and they will want to profit from the fact that Manchester United and Manchester City are facing each other.

Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Fulham
