Liverpool have been warned against signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo despite a move for Jude Bellingham being “unrealistic”.
The Reds are being linked with several midfielders of late as it is known that they are in the market for at least one signing in that area of the pitch.
Bellingham is their main target but a deal for him may prove to be difficult with Manchester City and Real Madrid also keen to sign him in the summer.
Liverpool also seem to be considering alternatives and Caicedo is one of the players they are being linked with. This comes amid his superb form for Brighton and for Ecuador at the World Cup.
The Seagulls will not let Caicedo leave cheaply and it has been suggested that he could cost around £70m with Liverpool and Chelsea interested.
But ex-Liverpool defender Jose Enrique is concerned that Caicedo would flop at a big club like Marc Cucurella has since he joined Chelsea for £62m last year.

“Because isn’t that what Brighton are going to ask for? I would not risk it, I think there are other players out there.
“Another player who was linked was [Ismael] Bennacer from AC Milan as well, who is playing for the champions of Serie A.
“He’s never played in the Premier League, but he has played at a very high level.
“Look at what is happening with [Marc] Cucurella at Chelsea at the moment. That’s what happens when you sign players from smaller teams, even if they play in the Premier League.
“It is not the same to play for a smaller team as it is to play for one of the biggest teams.”
Bennacer had a spell at Arsenal earlier in his career and Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool ‘asked’ about him before he recently penned a new contract at AC Milan.
‘As said in December, Liverpool have been linked with many midfielders but nothing is advanced yet, despite fresh speculation,’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.
‘Youri Tielemans has been linked and has many admirers, including Newcastle and Arsenal, but nothing has been agreed at this stage.
‘Liverpool also asked to be kept informed…
