FC Cincinnati sign Ecuador international midfielder Marco Angulo

FC Cincinnati have completed the signing of Ecuadorian midfielder Marco Angulo from Liga Pro side Independiente de Valle.

The 20-year-old arrives on a three-year deal through the 2025 MLS season with Cincinnati holding an option on 2026. Angulo was signed via the U22 Initiative and occupies an international roster spot.

“Though he’s still a young player, Marco has already won titles and competed at the full international level,” FC Cincinnati general manager Chris Albright said in a club press release.

“He is a true box-to-box midfielder with elite technical ability and a tremendous engine, and we feel his qualities should complement our midfield group. I’d like to welcome Marco to Cincinnati, and we look forward to his continued growth and development with our club.”

Despite his tender age, Angulo already brings plenty of experience to the Cincinnati ranks.

The midfielder played 45 games overall for Independiente, scoring three goals and providing four assists, while also helping the club to a shock Copa Sudamericana win in 2022.

Angulo also made his international debut for Ecuador in a 0-0 friendly draw with Iraq in November following extensive periods representing the country at youth level.

“I’m excited to join FC Cincinnati,” said Angulo. “Thank you to Independiente for everything, and thank you to Chris, Pat [Noonan], and everyone else for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to TQL Stadium and meet the fans.”
