Tottenham are reportedly ready to hand Antonio Conte a £1million-per-year pay rise if he commits his long-term future to the club.

Talks over a new deal began last week, with Conte’s current contract expiring at the end of this season – though Spurs have an option to extend it by 12 months to the summer of 2024.

There were initial hopes that Spurs would be able to tie down the Italian to a new deal at the start of the season and the Telegraph are reporting that the Premier League side are willing to offer him a hefty pay rise on his £15m-a-year deal to commit long term.

However, the report goes on to claim that Spurs are facing an anxious wait over his decision, given how the Italian is in no rush make up his mind on the matter.

Sportsmail reported earlier this month that the north Londoners are satisfied that the Italian is more than content with how things are progressing at the club.

Conte has, though, also made no secret of his ambitions and desire to build a squad capable of competing and Spurs’s plans to continue meeting his demands will feature in the discussions.

Reports from the Athletic have claimed that Spurs are unlikely to splash the cash in the January window, which could have an impact on how Conte views the project going forward.
