PITTSBURGH – Pitt men’s soccer junior forward Bertin Jacquesson has signed a Generation adidas contract and will forgo the remainder of his college eligibility to the enter the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, the league announced Tuesday.

Jacquesson was one of 11 underclassmen that signed to the 2023 class while also being the first Panther in program history to sign a Generation adidas contract.

Generation adidas is a joint program between MLS and adidas that sees a handful of top collegiate underclassmen and youth national team players signed by MLS to Generation adidas contracts and made available in the SuperDraft. In order to provide Generation adidas players with the best professional environment, Generation adidas player salaries are not charged against an MLS team’s annual salary budget, providing an added incentive for that club to develop the player. Eventually, these GA players graduate to senior player contracts and their salaries are charged against a team’s budget.

“I’m so excited and proud of Bertin for earning this amazing opportunity,” said head coach Jay Vidovich. “We can’t thank Bertin enough for the lasting impact he has made here at Pitt and we’re excited to follow along as he enters the next step of his journey to becoming a professional soccer player.”
