Gareth Southgate will remain England manager until at least after the European Championship in 2024, the Football Association has confirmed.
Southgate first took on the role in 2016, having previously served as Under-21s manager for several years.
The 52-year-old led England to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of Euro 2020 before suffering elimination in the World Cup quarter-final to France this year.
The former Middlesbrough manager said he wanted to take time to consider his options following the defeat against France, but has ultimately decided he remains the best man to lead the Three Lions forward.
“We are delighted to confirm that Gareth Southgate is continuing as England manager and will lead our Euro 2024 campaign,” said FA chief executive Mark Bullingham.
“Gareth and Steve Holland [assistant manager] have always had our full support, and our planning for the Euros starts now.”
Southgate’s current England contract expires in December 2024, meaning his side’s performance at the Euros could determine whether he makes it to another World Cup.
