Independence, Missouri – The Kansas City Comets took an early lead against the St. Louis Ambush and never relinquished the advantage as they came away with a 7-4 win Saturday night at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri. The Ambush played from behind the entire game, falling to 2-3-0 on the season, while the Comets improved to 3-2-1.

Kansas City drew first blood just 25 seconds into the contest when Mike Da Silva scored at the goal mouth. The Ambush successfully killed off a power play after defender Pepe Junqueira had been blue carded for tripping, but played a man short again when St. Louis was penalized for too many men on the field just seconds after Pepe emerged from the penalty box. The Comets capitalized on their second power play when James Togbah made it 2-0 in the thirteenth minute of the opening quarter.

The Comets went up 3-0 when Ignacio Flores took a backheel pass from Odaine Sinclair and put the ball in goal in the eighth minute of the second stanza. Flores made it a brace when he put the ball into the top of the goal in the eleventh minute. Kansas City enjoyed a 4-0 lead at halftime.

The Ambush cut the lead in half with two goals in the sixth minute of the third frame, thanks to Robert Kristo (Lucas Almeida) and William Eskay (Christian Briggs). Kansas City answered when John Sosa scored on a restart in the seventh minute to make it 5-2. St. Louis got one back on a restart of their own when Kristo took a pass from Tony Walls and got off a shot that found its mark in the tenth minute to shave the lead to 5-3. The home team pulled away 6-3 when Rian Marques was able to beat Ambush goalkeeper Paul Nascimento at in the twelfth minute of the third frame.

The Comets continued the offensive onslaught when Ali Sodal scored in the fifth minute of the fourth period for a 7-3 score. Kristo completed the hat trick for St. Louis in the fourteenth minute but it would prove to be too little, too late for the Ambush, who went home on the 7-4 loss.
