Syracuse Takes Home USC National Staff Of The Year

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The United Soccer Coaches announced the Syracuse men’s soccer coaching staff as the National Staff of the Year. Head coach Ian McIntyre and his staff of assistants Jukka Masalin, Sean Lawlor and Michael Flynn win the award for the first time in their careers. The Orange staff has swept every coaching award this season, earning the ACC Coach of the Year and the USC South Region Staff of the Year previously.

McIntyre and his staff have completed the best season in program history, winning a school-record 19 matches and winning the NCAA National Championship for the first time. Syracuse also won the national championship, the ACC Tournament title, and the regular season division title in a single season, the fourth team in ACC history to achieve this accomplishment.

In 2021, Syracuse finished with a 8-8-2, ending its season in the first round of the ACC Championships. The 2022 season ends with McIntyre and his coaching staff improving the win total by 11 and bringing home a national championship for the first time in program history.
