Seattle Sounders FC Trades Forward Sam Adeniran to St. Louis City SC

Sounders FC Fans Launch Fan-Funded Field Effort in Support of RAVE Foundation's 26 Fields by 2026 Initiative

SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that it has traded forward Samuel Adeniran to St. Louis City SC in exchange for $100,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM), as well as up to an additional $100,000 in 2024 GAM if certain performance metrics are met. Seattle also retains a percentage of a future transfer fee through 2025. With the trade, Seattle’s roster sits at 26 active players.

Adeniran signed with Tacoma Defiance in March of 2021, starting 22 of 30 USL Championship appearances and leading the team with 13 goals that season. He also played two matches for Sounders FC in 2021 due to Extreme Hardship loans. The 24-year-old signed a First Team contract prior to the 2022 season, starting one of two MLS appearances, as well as seven of eight for MLS NEXT Pro matches for Defiance, scoring two goals. In June, the Houston native was loaned to USL Championship side San Antonio FC for the remainder of the 2022 season, where he started 22 of 24 appearances and with 12 goals (including postseason), including the game-winning strike in the USL Championship Final.

Sounders FC’s roster currently sits at 26 players ahead of the 2023 campaign.

TRANSACTION: Sounders FC trades forward Samuel Adeniran to St. Louis City SC for $100,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM) and up to an additional $100,000 in 2024 GAM (if certain performance metrics are met) on December 15, 2022. Seattle also retains a percentage of a future transfer fee through 2025.
