Liverpool ‘desire’ Tottenham star as alternative target with ‘agreement’ for £103m star refuted

Liverpool-linked Bentancur

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur as an alternative to the likes of Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez.

The Reds are bound to be linked with every midfielder under the sun in the coming months as it is common knowledge that they are in the market for one or two players in the middle of the pitch.

Sofyan Amrabat has reportedly joined their list of targets off the back of his star showings for Morocco at the World Cup.

There is a £103m release clause in his contract and it was even claimed earlier this month that Liverpool have already reached a ‘pre-contract agreement’ to sign him.

But 90min are reporting that ‘talk of a done deal is premature’.

Benfica have made it clear that Fernandez will not leave in January unless his release clause is met and they are ‘unaware of any agreement’.

Liverpool are ‘tracking’ Fernandez and have been in contact with the player’s representatives but ‘they have only registered their…
