Arsenal ‘make final attempt’ to seal ‘cut-price’ deal with club ‘very tempted’ by January transfer

Arsenal target Tielemans

Arsenal are reportedly ready to ‘make a final attempt’ to sign Leicester star Youri Tielemans for a ‘cut-price’ before he becomes a free agent next summer.

The Foxes seemed to accept the prospect of Tielemans leaving earlier this year as he is due to be out of contract in 2023.

The Premier League side slapped a £30m asking price on him as they looked to recoup most of the £40m that they paid to sign him from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the midfielder and it felt like only a matter of time before he joined the London club in the summer.

“In the end I will decide. There was talk of different clubs, but I won’t go into that. I’m happy to get a bit of fresh air here [with Belgium] because it’s tough at Leicester right now. It’s clear that things are not going well at the club. We are doing everything we can as a team.

“At Leicester, the consecutive defeats have affected us as a group. We need to benefit from this break to recharge our batteries. It’s hard to get it off my mind as it keeps running through my head.

“Only my kids sometimes prevent me from thinking about it.”

It feels like the most likely scenario will see Tielemans leave Leicester on a free transfer in the summer.

But The Mirror are reporting that Arsenal are preparing one ‘final attempt to snap up’ Tielemans in January.

It is suggested that ‘any decent offer will be tempting’ for Leicester as their…
