Man Utd ‘tested’ as European giant offer attacker £850k a week in ‘fresh transfer bid’

Man Utd star Rashford

Ligue 1 side PSG are reportedly willing to pay England star Marcus Rashford up to £850k a week as he nears the end of his contract with Man Utd.

Rashford has returned to form over the past six months as he has come to life since Erik ten Hag took over at Man Utd.

His United career looked like it may be over after he endured a difficult season in 2021/22.

The forward was linked with PSG in the summer but he instead opted to rebuild his reputation at his boyhood club.

This has worked a treat as Rashford was one of United’s best players before the World Cup break and he also made an impact in Qatar for England.

Rashford is out of contract in 2023 but United do have the option to extend his deal by a further year.

Ten Hag has confirmed that they intend to do this with Rashford and Diogo Dalot.

“We are talking to them to extend contracts,” Ten Hag revealed earlier this week.

“But we have control because we have an option on all the players and we will exercise those options.”

The Mirror appear to have overlooked these quotes from Ten Hag as PSG are ‘readying a fresh transfer offer’ to sign Rashford.

The report is based on the assumption that Rashford’s deal is up next year as they state that PSG are ‘willing to make him one of the best-paid players on the planet’.

The French side are said to be ‘putting together a package that could be worth up to £850,000 a week’.

It is also stated that Bayern Munich have been ‘monitoring’ Rashford’s situation at United but they will ‘likely be put off’ by the ‘figures being mooted’.

Weirdly, La Liga side Real Betis are also said to be interested in Rashford.

The Mirror presumably must mean Real Madrid because they state that the Spanish outfit ‘could go to around £500,000 a week’, which would surely be out of reach for Betis.

This would leave PSG in the ‘box seat’ to sign Rashford next year. They claim that the Parisians could offer such lofty wages as they would be getting a player ‘worth around £70m’ on a free transfer.

The figures given in this report are likely way off the mark with Rashford’s deal soon due to be up in 2024 instead of 2023.

PSG are at least admirers of Rashford though. Their president – Nasser Al-Khelaifi – hopes to have talks with the forward.

“Again, he is another player that is really amazing and for free, to have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely,” Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports.

“Definitely, there is no…
