Myers Invited to 2022 adidas MLS College Showcase


PISCATAWAY, N.J. — MD Myers will attend the adidas Major League Soccer College Showcase, set to run from Dec. 9-12 in Raleigh, North Carolina and in advance of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas on Dec. 21. MLS made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.  

Myers will be one of the 44 college soccer players invited to the event which will take place in conjunction with the 2022 NCAA Men’s College Cup. The four-day event will give technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout these top collegiate prospects in the nation, including players with remaining NCAA eligibility. The list of attendees is subject to change prior to the event.  

The 2022 adidas MLS College Showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA. Technical staffs from MLS clubs will also attend the remaining College Cup matches in Cary, North Carolina on Dec. 9 and Dec. 12. The eligible player list for the 2023 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas will be announced at a later date following the 2022 adidas MLS College Showcase. 

Fourteen players who participated in the 2021 adidas MLS College Showcase are currently on MLS rosters. 

Myers has made a huge impact since transferring to Rutgers ahead of the 2022 fall season. He was unanimously named Big Ten Player of the Year as well as an All-Big Ten First Team selection.  

After leading the Scarlet Knights to their first Big Ten Championship in program history, the Delran, New Jersey native was named Offensive Player of the Big Ten Tournament.  

During the 2022 slate, Myers scored 13 goals and added seven assists for a conference-leading 33 points. He also ended the season ranked fourth in the nation in goals (13), third in shots on goal per game (1.90) and fifth in total points (33). Not only did he pace the Big Ten in goals and points but also shots (69) and shots on goal (40).  

Myers was the only player in the Big Ten to reach double-digit goals and more than 20+ points. He found the back of the net in 10 outings, including three braces, and earned points in 13 contests.
