Oke Named To All-Pacific Region First Team; Collins, Roy Earn Second Team Honors

Three Cal student-athletes earned All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday. Sophomore Ayo Oke was named to the All-Pacific Region First Team while fifth-year Sydney Collins and senior Keely Roy were named to the All-Pacific Region Second Team.

Oke, a defender from Lawrencevile, Ga., earned her first All-Region honor. Oke was also named to the 2022 All-Pac-12 Second Team, the second conference postseason honor of her career after being named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team in 2021. Oke wrote herself into the Cal record books this season, tying for second place on the single-season assists leaderboard with nine.  She led the conference in assists and ranked 22nd nationally.

Collins, a defender from Beaverton, Ore., also earned her first All-Region honor this year. The team captain was additionally named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team and a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree in 2022. Collins was named Pac-12 Defender of the Week twice this season and helped the Bears register nine shutouts and only allow a combined 17 goals from opponents. Collins started in all 21 matches this season and led the team in minutes played with 1,900 on the pitch.

Roy, a midfielder from Sebastpol, earned an All-Region honor for the first time in her career. Roy was previously named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team and is a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree. She was also named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the week and to the TopDrawerSoccer national team of the week on Oct. 10. Roy made headlines this season as Cal’s top scorer with her 11 goals, three of which were game-winners. She had three multi-goal games – scoring two apiece in Cal’s victories over Colorado, Washington State and UC San Diego – and was the first Bear to have a multi-goal game in nearly three years. Her 11 goals placed her third in the conference and 36th place nationally. Roy also led Cal with 24 points and 67 shots.
