Five Ducks Named to District All-Academic Team


EUGENE, Ore. – Five Oregon student-athletes, Kess Elmore, Leah Freeman, Zoe Hasenauer, Lara Kirkby and Croix Soto, were named the College Sports Communicators women’s soccer academic all-district team on Tuesday.
 
It was the second career all-district selections for Freeman, Hasenauer and Soto, while Elmore and Kirkby were first-time honorees.
 
Elmore is a graduate student with a 3.58 grade point average in Sports Product Management. A forward, Elmore scored two goals on just nine shots this season.
 
The 2022 Pac-12 goalkeeper of the year, Freeman is a junior with a 3.93 GPA in political science. She led the Pac-12 and ranked in the top 10 nationally in both saves (114) and saves per game (6.71). Freeman is Oregon’s career leader in shutouts with 18 and in goals against average at 1.02 allowed per game.
 
Hasenauer, a fifth-year forward who is Oregon’s all-time leader in assists (19) and games started (90), has a 3.53 GPA in journalism/advertising. The midfielder scored one goal with three assists in 2022. She finished her career ranked in the UO top 10 in eight different categories.
 
Kirby is a sophomore midfielder with a 4.02 grade point average in chemistry. After appearing in just one match as a freshman, Kirkby saw a big jump in 2022, playing in 10 matches off the bench.
 
Soto, an all-Pac-12 first team defender last season, missed the first eight matches of 2022 due to injury, but came back to play in the final 11 games, starting eight. The senior from Pasadena, Calif., has a 3.64 GPA in journalism/advertising.
