Wake Forest Selected For 12th-Straight NCAA Tournament Appearance

INDIANAPOLIS — For the 12th-straight season, Wake Forest men’s soccer has earned a bid in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. The Demon Deacons will begin the 2022 tournament on Thursday night at 6 p.m., hosting Ohio State in the first round at Spry Stadium.

The 2022 Season To Date

Wake Forest enters this year’s tournament with a 14-5-0 overall record, as the Demon Deacons finished in the top-four of the ACC in the regular season before advancing to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.

During the regular season, Wake Forest earned a pair of ranked victories over then-No. 10 Clemson 6-1 and then-No. 9 Louisville 3-0. The Demon Deacons started the season with a nine-match winning streak and were the only team in the country to finish the first month of the season without a loss or draw.

In a 6-1 victory over George Mason on Sept. 20, the program won its 13th-straight match at Spry Stadium to set a new team record for consecutive home victories. Additionally in a 3-1 victory over Boston College on Oct. 15, Bobby Muuss earned his 200th career win as a head coach.

Seven Deacs were selected for All-ACC honors as junior Garrison Tubbs and sophomore Roald Mitchell were picked as All-ACC second-team selections, juniors Jahlane Forbes and Prince Amponsah along with sophomore Baba Niang were named All-ACC third-team selections and Cooper Flax and Vlad Walent were selected as ACC All-Freshman Team selections.
