The Big Ten Conference will have four schools participating in the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament. On Monday afternoon, the NCAA announced that Indiana, Maryland, Ohio State and Rutgers earned berths into the 48-team tournament, which is slated to begin on Thursday, Nov. 17 at campus sites around the country. The NCAA champion will be crowned at the NCAA Men’s College Cup on Dec. 12 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

With Monday’s announcement, the Big Ten has now had at least three of its current programs advance to the NCAA Tournament for 12 consecutive seasons. Conference schools have also made 24 College Cup appearances, claiming 12 championships.

Indiana (10-4-6) will make its 47th NCAA Tournament appearance, including 36 in a row. The No. 13 seeded Hoosiers earned a bye into the second round and will face the winner of Thursday’s first-round match-up between St. Louis and Memphis on Sunday, Nov. 20 at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.

Big Ten regular season champion Maryland (10-3-5) will play host to Farleigh Dickinson in Thursday’s first round. The Terrapins’ 40th NCAA Tournament appearance will begin in the comfy confines of Ludwig Field in College Park, Maryland, where the Terrapins went 6-3-3 this season. A first-round victory would send Maryland to a second-round meeting at No. 14 seed Cornell.

Ohio State (10-3-5) will make its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2015, when it advanced to the second round. The Buckeyes’ 11th tournament appearance will begin in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where they will face ACC Tournament semifinalist Wake Forest. Thursday’s victor will remain in North Carolina to face No. 12 seed UNC-Greensboro in Sunday’s second round.

Fresh off its first Big Ten Tournament championship, Rutgers (10-4-6) will return to the NCAA Tournament for the 18th time and first since a second-round appearance in 2015. The Scarlet Knights hope to carry their momentum from Sunday’s championship match to Philadelphia, as they will visit Penn in the opening round. With a win, Rutgers would travel to upstate New York to visit ACC champion No. 3 seed Syracuse.
