Real Madrid 'fed up' with Vinicius Junior treatment in La Liga

Real Madrid have been described as ‘fed up’ with the rough treatment of star winger Vinicius Junior in La Liga and an apparent lack of protection from officials.

Vinicius has been fouled 3.4 times per game on average in La Liga so far this season, compared to only 1.8 in the Champions League.

AS has reported that the Brazilian feels ‘absolutely defenceless’ and that the mood at the club with regard to the situation is one of ‘tiredness, anger and lack of hope’. The latter suggests that Los Blancos don’t expect anything to change, with apparent concerns of the mental impact on Vini.

The 4-1 win over Mallorca in September is said to be the first time this season that Real believed Vinicius to be unfairly targeted by an opposing team. There have been more complaints in recent weeks after games against Rayo Vallecano and Cadiz.

Following victory over the latter in midweek, AS alleges that witness saw the on-field provocation continue into the tunnel. It is even that claimed that Vinicius is excited about the prospect of playing for Brazil at the World Cup but already fearing what awaits him when La Liga resumes.

Signed from Flamengo at the age of just 16 and moving to Europe at 18, Vinicius had a breakout season with Real in 2021/22 when he scored 22 times in all competitions as Los Blancos completed a relatively rare La Liga and Champions League double. Now 22, he had started this season in similar form, finding the net five times in his first seven domestic appearances.

But while he was able to maintain that form across the whole Champions League group stage, he has only scored twice in nine La Liga games since facing Mallorca.
