CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 5 national seed and No. 25 overall Clemson women’s soccer team hosts Vanderbilt on Friday, Nov. 11 for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, marking the ninth straight time the Tigers have made an appearance. The match is set to kick off at 3 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Tigers are 12-18-12 in the NCAA Tournament all-time, advancing in eight of the 12 draws. Last season the Tigers hosted Alabama in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Historic Riggs Field but narrowly dropped the match 1-0. The previous season Clemson reached their fifth Elite Eight in program history, beating Rutgers and upsetting No. 3 UCLA before losing to eventual National Champion No. 11 Santa Clara.

This is the fifth time that the Tigers and Commodores will meet, as Clemson is undefeated in the series, 3-0-2.  Most recently, the Tigers and Commodores fought to a 0-0 draw at Historic Riggs Field in 2019.

Two-time First-Team All SEC forward Raegan Kelley leads the Commodores in points (26), goals (8) and assists (10). Sophomore forward Rachel Deresky and senior midfielder Alex Kerr are tied for second on the team with 13 points. Junior Kate Devine and sophomore Sara Wojdelko have split goalkeeping duties for the Commodores, each registering 33 and 22 saves, respectively.

The Tigers are led by three-time All-ACC players in Hal Hershfelt and Megan Bornkamp from the midfield and defensive end, who have led the Tigers to three consecutive shutouts heading into the match. Maliah Morris and Caroline Conti each earned All-ACC honors for the first time in their career, guiding the Tigers on the offensive end. Junior goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz has made her presence felt in goal this season, registering seven shutouts. She is currently fourth in the ACC in shutouts per game (.438).

The last time Clemson took the pitch they registered a 0-0 draw against then No. 19 Pitt in Pittsburgh, Pa. for junior goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz’s seventh shutout of the season.
