Yoshizawa named to ACC All-Freshman team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech freshman midfielder Misei Yoshizawa was named to the ACC All-Freshman team, as announced by the league on Wednesday morning.

Yoshizawa, a native of Tokyo, Japan, appeared in all 18 of Virginia Tech’s games this season and made 16 starts. His first start of his career came on the road at then-No. 23 UCLA.

Many of Tech’s opportunities throughout the season came from the creativity of Yoshizawa, who led the team with four assists. Two of his assists came in the Hokies’ most impressive result of the season – a 2-1 win over No. 11 Louisville in the first round of the ACC Championship.

Yoshizawa tallied two goals on the season in matches against Mercer and Virginia. Both strikes were impressive left-footed efforts from outside the box.

Joining Daniel Pereira (2019) and Danny Flores (2021), Yoshizawa is the third Tech men’s soccer player in four years to be named to the league’s All-Freshman team. The achievement also prolongs the Hokies’ seven year streak of earning an all-conference recognition.
