GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson and Syracuse punched their tickets to the title match in the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Championship after advancing through the semifinals on Wednesday evening.

 

Second-seeded Syracuse advanced to its first ACC title game since winning the 2015 tournament, downing No. 3 seed Virginia, 5-3, in a penalty-kick shootout following a 2-2 draw in Syracuse, New York. No. 8 seed Clemson rolled to a 2-0 victory over No. 4 seed Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

 

Clemson is the lowest seed to reach the championship match in tournament history. The previous low was Syracuse, which won the 2015 title as a 7-seed.

 

The championship match will be contested on Sunday, Nov. 13 at noon from WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. ESPNU has the broadcast. Tickets are on sale now for the championship match and can be purchased HERE. General admission tickets are $10. Admission is free for youth ages 18 and under, as well as students of ACC institutions (with valid ID). 

 

Syracuse and Clemson squared off on Sept. 16, with the Orange winning 2-1 on the Tigers’ home pitch.

 

No. 2 Syracuse 2, No. 3 Virginia 2 (2OT; SU advances 5-3 on PK)

Syracuse rallied from a late deficit, equalizing in the 84th minute on a Lorenzo Boselli goal to force extra time. After two scoreless overtime periods, Syracuse goalkeeper Russell Shealy stopped UVA’s second penalty shot, and the Orange went 5-for-5 on penalties, capped by Colin Biros’ strike to clinch the win.

 

Syracuse took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a Jeorgio Kocevski penalty-kick goal. UVA tied the game in the 38th minute on a score from Andreas Ueland and took the lead in the 66th minute on a Leo Afonso goal.

 

No. 8 Clemson 2, No. 4 Wake Forest 0

Clemson advanced to its third ACC final in the last four seasons, extending its win streak to five matches. Brandon Parrish scored in the 14th minute, while Derek Waleffe added an insurance goal in the 60th minute.

 

The Tigers out-shot Wake Forest, 14-2, including a 9-0 edge in the first half. Clemson’s defense held the Demon Deacons without a shot on goal.
