GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest advanced into the semifinals of the 2022 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship with quarterfinal victories on Sunday.
 
No. 8 seed Clemson scored the lone quarterfinal upset, winning on the road at No. 1 seed Duke, 2-0. No. 2 Syracuse scored late to top No. 7 North Carolina, 1-0, while No. 3 Virginia knocked off No. 6 Pitt, 1-0. No. 4 Wake Forest ousted No. 12 Virginia Tech, 1-0.
 
The semifinals will be played Wednesday, Nov. 9, at campus sites, beginning with Virginia at Syracuse at 5 p.m. and followed by Clemson at Wake Forest at 7 p.m. Both matches will air on ACC Network. The championship match will be broadcast on Sunday, Nov. 13 at noon from WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. ESPNU has the broadcast.
 
Tickets are on sale now for the championship match at WakeMed Soccer Park and can be purchased HERE. General admission tickets are $10. Admission is free for youth ages 18 and under, as well as students of ACC institutions (with valid ID). 
 
No. 4 Wake Forest 1, No. 12 Virginia Tech 0
Senior Omar Hernandez buried a spectacular free kick in the 62nd minute to lift Wake Forest into the semifinals. It was his first goal of the season. Wake Forest recorded its eighth clean sheet of the season and limited the Hokies to just three shots on goal.
 
No. 3 Virginia 1, No. 6 Pitt 0
The Cavaliers capitalized on an early chance in the 21st minute. Following a flick from Leo Afonso into the penalty area, Reese Miller found himself with just the goalkeeper to beat as he fired his chance into the low corner for the match’s lone score. UVA goalkeeper Holden Brown recorded a season-high nine saves in goal.
 
No. 2 Syracuse 1, No. 7 North Carolina 0
Levonte Johnson scored with just four minutes remaining to send Syracuse to the ACC semifinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2015. Johnson’s goal-scoring effort included dribbling by multiple North Carolina defenders before slotting the chance away.
 
No. 8 Clemson 2, No. 1 Duke 0
