LOS ANGELES – The No. 14 USC women’s soccer team closes regular-season play with a crosstown showdown against No. 1 UCLA on Friday.

LAST WEEK – The Trojans went 2-0 at home last week, beating Washington and Washington State at McAlister Field. USC opened the week with a 2-1 win over the Huskies, getting a goal and assist from both Croix Bethune and Helena Sampaio. USC then won a thriller over Wazzu on Sunday, picking up a 3-2 victory in which the lead changed hands three times. Zoe Burns, Angeles Escobar and Simone Jackson had goals in the game. Burns scored in the 4th minute, Escobar equalized in the 53rd minute and Jackson netted the winner in the 64th.
 
SUSTAINED SUCCESS – USC’s two wins last week gave the Trojans 11 victories on the season, marking the 8th consecutive full season (excluding the shortened 2020 campaign) that the program has recorded double-digit wins. Over the last seven full seasons, USC has averaged 15.5 wins per year and owns a .760 winning percentage.
 
POSTSEASON PROSPECTS – The Trojans look to make their ninth straight postseason appearance this year, with the NCAA selection show being held on Monday, Nov. 7 at 12:30 pm PT. USC sits No. 14 in the Coaches Poll and No. 23 in the RPI ratings. 64 teams make the NCAA Tournament, with play beginning Nov. 11.

IN THE RANKINGS – After starting the season at No. 15 in the rankings, the Trojans fell out following an opening-day loss at Purdue. USC jumped back into the rankings five weeks ago and have been as high as No. 8 in the coaches poll. USC sits at No. 14 this week, up four spots from the previous week.
