Man City vs Liverpool - WSL preview: TV channel, live stream, predicted lineups & prediction

Manchester City will be looking to record their third successive WSL win on Sunday when they welcome Liverpool to the Academy Stadium.

The Citizens have registered back-to-back victories over Leicester and Tottenham in recent weeks to recover from their tough opening to the season, with Bunny Shaw currently leading the league’s scoring charts after her blistering start to the campaign.

They face a Liverpool side who are yet to pick up any points since their surprise opening day win over Chelsea, but did end their goal drought in midweek with a 4-0 Continental Cup victory over Leicester.

When is kick off? Sunday 30 October, 14:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Academy Stadium
TV channel/live stream? FA Player (UK & international)
Referee? Kirsty Dowle

Manchester City continue to be without defender Alanna Kennedy, who is currently sidelined with a fractured shoulder.

City heavily rotated their squad for their midweek Conti Cup victory over Blackburn, with Kerstin Casparij and Esme Morgan the only two players to remain in the starting XI from the win over Tottenham last weekend. Gareth Taylor will likely return to a similar side that started against Spurs.

Man City (4-3-3): Roebuck; Casperij, Greenwood, Aleixandri, Morgan; Hasegawa, Coombs, Castellanos; Kelly, Shaw, Hemp.

Liverpool remain without last season’s top scorer Leanne Kiernan, who is a long term absentee after suffering an ankle injury on the opening day of the season.

The Reds could be boosted by the potential return of Shanice van de Saanden. The summer signing is yet to feature for Liverpool this season due to injury, but Matt Beard confirmed there was a chance she could be available for minutes on Sunday.

Liverpool reverted to a 4-3-3 against Leicester in midweek, and could continue in the same formation given the improvements they saw in front of goal.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Laws; Koivisto, Fahey, Flaherty, Hinds; Kearns, Holland, Matthews; Daniels, Stengel, Lawley.

City have looked bright since returning from the international break as Taylor’s new-look side continue to gel.

Liverpool have form when it comes to upsetting the WSL’s elite, having already beaten reigning champions Chelsea this term. However, with the mood City’s front three are currently in, the hosts taking all three points seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: Man City 3-0 Liverpool
