Women's Soccer Up to No. 19 in United Soccer Coaches Rankings

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women’s soccer team (12-4-1, 5-3-1 ACC) moved up another spot in the United Soccer Coaches Rankings, coming in at No. 19 to mark the fifth week in a row the Panthers have been ranked in the national poll.

The Panthers entered the rankings at No. 14 four weeks ago, marking the third-straight year Pitt has appeared in the weekly poll. Pitt moved up one spot to No. 13 three weeks ago, then was ranked No. 21 two weeks ago and No. 20 last week. The Panthers reached as high as No. 19 in the poll last season and No. 12 in 2020. Pitt is also ranked ninth on the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee’s Top 10 list.

Pitt set a program record with its 12th victory of the 2022 season last Thursday in a 2-0 triumph over Syracuse. Pitt’s five ACC wins this year are the most in a single season in program history since the Panthers joined the league prior to the 2013 campaign. Pitt also set a new program record for goals scored in a single season, raising its total to 43 on the year after potting a pair against the Orange. Pitt has gone 7-1 in home games played at Ambrose Urbanic Field so far this season. The Panthers’ signature win among its four road victories was a 3-1 triumph over then-No. T-17-ranked Notre Dame last month.

Pitt hosts Clemson Thursday in its final game of the 2022 regular season with a spot in the six-team 2022 ACC Championship field on the line. First touch is slated for 7 p.m. The matchup will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra. Tickets can be purchased online in advance for $5 or purchased on gameday for $8 at the Petersen Sports Complex Ticket Office.
