COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 13 Ohio State (9-1-5, 4-1-2) scored near the end of the first half and early in the second secure a 2-1 win over visiting Michigan State (6-7-2, 3-3-1) Tuesday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Ohio State finished the home regular-season schedule with a 7-0-2 record.

Four Ohio State seniors were recognized during pregame ceremonies.

Keeper Keagan McLaughlin, midfielders Chris Dowling and Xavier Green along with forward Devyn Etling have played more than 175 games at Ohio State during their careers.

 

How it Happened

Laurence Wootton connected on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after Devyn Etling was fouled in the box for the 1-0 lead. It was the fifth goal of the year for Wootton and 12th as a Buckeye.

Anthony Samways then took a corner in the 47th minute that was headed in by Nathan Demian for a 2-0 advantage. It was Demian’s first career score. Samways has five assists on the year and seven for his career.

The Spartans cut the Ohio State lead in half with a goal in the 65th minute by Conner George.
