Antonio Conte odds tumble as Jesse Marsch looks doomed in manager sack race

After overseeing another disappointing defeat, this time 3-2 to Fulham on Sunday, Marsch’s days at Elland Road look numbered.

At odds of 1/3, Marsch is now the red hot favourite in the next manager to leave the post market, when a couple of weeks ago he was riding high at 20/1.

The defeat at Fulham extended Leeds’ winless run to eight matches and left them third from bottom, level on points with the two teams below them – Wolves and Nottingham Forest – and two points from safety.

But Marsch, who already has the majority of Leeds fans calling for his head, insists he still had the board’s full backing.

“We are doing everything we can and we are together. We are unified,” he said.

“I have to find ways to help them get better and the board and I are unified completely. We’ve had clear discussions that we are together in this.”

Meanwhile, Spurs 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle on Sunday evening saw Conte’s odds plummet from 16/1 to 9/1, making him fourth favourite to leave behind Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl (5/1) and Brentford’s Thomas Frank (8/1).

Spurs suffered their first back-to-back league defeats since February and the murmurings of discontent about Conte’s style of play are starting to get louder.

Former next manager to leave favourites Brendan Rodgers, Frank Lampard and Steve Cooper are starting to pull themselves away from the danger zone.

Leicester’s 4-0 away win at Wolves saw Rodgers’ odds drift to 12/1. Everton’s 3-0 win against Crystal Palace pushed Lampard out to 16/1, while the surprise 1-0 victory over Liverpool also had Steve Cooper at 16s.

David Moyes (20/1) and Jurgen Klopp (25/1) are next in the market, while all the other Premier League’s managers can rest easy especially Eddie How who has now drifted out to 80/1.
