Alabama’s Crone, Parker Earn SEC Weekly Soccer Honors


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 3/1 Alabama soccer team picked up two Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday. Riley Mattingly Parker was named the SEC Offensive Player of Week for the third time this year, while McKinley Crone captured her second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

  • Parker scored a goal and tallied three assists to help Alabama clinch its eighth and ninth win in SEC action
  • Parker’s goal against Mississippi State was her 12th of the year, in addition to being her fifth game-winning goal this season
  • Parker recorded a diving header in the 64th minute of the game, jump starting the offense as Alabama went on to record a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs
  • The four goals by the Tide were the most given up by Mississippi State this season
  • Additionally, Parker recorded two assists in the game, aiding Gianna Paul in the team’s first goal of the match and Ashlynn Serepca on the UA’s third goal
  • Parker also tallied an assist against Florida, flicking a throw in over to Kat Rogers who hit the pass on a bounce for the game winning goal
  • Parker leads the SEC in points with 29 this season off of 12 goals and five assists
  • She has tied the single-season record for game-winning goals with five this year

  • Crone made five saves against Florida to capture her seventh shutout this season and 18th shutout in an Alabama uniform
  • The UA goalkeeper finished the week with nine saves, allowing just one goal through 180 minutes of action
  • Her performance in goal helped the Tide remain undefeated in conference play as the team clinched its eighth and ninth wins in SEC play
  • Crone has 199 career saves at Alabama
  • She has a program-record 16 wins this season, in addition to a program-record 34 wins since transferring to Alabama three years ago

The Team  

  • Alabama clinched its first SEC regular season title in program history on Sunday after moving to 9-0 in conference play
  • Alabama has accumulated a single-season record 16 wins and has not lost a match since Aug. 21 against Miami
  • The win marks Alabama’s 12th consecutive victory in 2022 and 16th straight win at the Alabama Soccer Stadium
  • Alabama’s current home winning streak began with a 2-0 win against UAB on Sept. 12 of last season
